Kobelco, construction equipment manufacturer, has announced further mergers of its Crane and Construction businesses. The move will affect of used crane buisness in Japan and and manufacturing and distribution operations in India.
In continuation to the previous consolidations the company says that it is in order: “To maximise the effects of the consolidation with Kobelco Cranes, such as the improvement of management efficiency, strengthening of product development capabilities, and enhancement of global expansion.”
In Japan Kobleco is merging its used equipment operations - Kobelco Construction Machinery International Trading and Kobelco Cranes Trading, with the crane business being taken over and managed by the construction machinery company.
In India the company is merging its two subsidiaries - Kobelco Construction Equipment India and Kobelco Cranes India. Both subsidiaries are responsible for manufacturing, selling and supporting their respective product lines in Indian market. It essentially means that the crane business will close, with the Construction operation taking over its activities.
The latest merger moves follow the previously announced plan to merge the crane and machinery businesses, which were earlier separated in 2004.
